The Definitive Guide to Eating and Enjoying Burritos in San Francisco

This is very, very important.

1. USE BURRITOEATER.COM
Burritoeater.com is your friend. It will not lead you astray. Look for places that have been reviewed recently and often.

2. ALWAYS GO “SUPER”
Or “Supremo,” if that’s how your chosen taqueria rolls. Guac, cheese and sour cream are the magical glue of Mission-style burritos.

3. IF YOUR BURRITO COMES WITH SALAD, EAT THE SALAD
A little roughage will do you good.

4. IF YOUR BURRITO COMES WITH CHIPS, DO NOT EAT THE CHIPS
A pile of chips might be the difference between eating that next burrito and not eating that next burrito. If you’re at a taqueria with fantastic salsa (such as Papalote), pour the salsa on your burrito.

5. EAT THE WHOLE BURRITO
You haven’t really eaten a Mission-style burrito unless you’ve eaten the whole damned thing. Those last messy bites are the best part. If you aren’t hungry enough to eat a whole burrito, go eat something else… and THEN eat a whole burrito.

You’re welcome.
